“Throning” is the new hot term used by Gen Z on social media in connection with dating habits. It’s the “new” dating trend where individuals pursue partners to boost their social status or ego, and it seems to be everywhere on TikTok.
But this isn’t really anything new . . . it’s just something younger people started talking about. But the concept has been around forever. For women, dating for status has always been a factor. Meanwhile, men who understand the dating game also understand the concept of “social proof.” If women see you with another attractive woman, you become more desireable to them through the association. Pickup artists call this social proof, and frankly it works like a charm.
Of course, this crazy generation seems to be taking things to another level. When you toss in photos and social media, basic social realities can take on even more significance. So many people are chasing likes and followers these days.
We’ve all seen the women obsessed with this. Their life revolves around luxury settings and selfies. If you have a nice boat, it’s always been easy to get hot women to join you, but now they’ll be armed with a phone that generates tons of photos to raise their social cred.
The game hasn’t really changed, but it is a bit more intense.
