Audi has announced the arrival of the all-new 2022 A3 and S3. The models feature increases in length, width, and height over the previous models in order to create more a spacious interior. The designers aimed for a more “muscular stance supported by dynamic profile” and we think they hit their mark. The all-new S3 (pictured here in red) is the sport version of the A3, representing another high performance entry to the Audi S-model portfolio. You can see the differences in the front grilles, but both offer impressive designs.
The Audi A3 comes standard with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 201 horsepower and 236 lb-ft of torque, along with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Also, for the first time on the A3 models, a standard 48-volt mild-hybrid (MHEV) system is included to improve acceleration from take-off and additional torque during low engine speeds.
If you want more performance you can go with the S-3. The all-new S3 has more power with 306 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque through a powerful 2.0-liter four-cylinder TFSI® engine. This is an increase of 18 horsepower, and 15 lb-ft of torque over its predecessor, and the sprint from 0 to 60 mph improves to 4.5 seconds. A newly available S sport suspension with damper control provides adjustability through the Audi Drive Select modes. Also, a new modular dynamic handling control unit closely links quattro all-wheel drive to the Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and the available damper controlled suspension to support a more spirited driving experience.
The A3 will arrive in the U.S. next year as a 2022 model, and the S3 should arrive soon after. Audi is also expected to release a new version of the even more powerful Audi RS3, which will likely offer over 400 horsepower.
